An Afternoon Tea Party for Bekah’s 8th Birthday

This weekend, Rebekah turned 8.  We can’t believe it.  Our girl is just darling- sweet, tender, thoughtful, smart, quick-witted, lover of Jesus, amazing big sister, and blessing of a daughter.  We are so proud of the little person she already is.

As is her custom, Beks chose a tea party for her birthday {see also 4th birthday and 7th birthday}.  We decided to make it fancy and have the guests bring their favorite doll/stuffed animal.  Kate and her kids were also in town and stayed for the party, which was a huge treat, not only for Bekah, but for me as well.  Having one of my best friend’s company and help was wonderful.  Plus, she added all the pretty touches, such as her homemade rainbow bunting.

We had about 9 or 10 girls total- they arrived, played for a while {we had moved a lot of doll toys into the living room}, then moved to the dining table for a formal high tea.  I told them about tea party etiquette and different kinds of tea time.  We had raspberry tea, scones and cream, finger sandwiches, fruit, and assorted treats.  The girls were excited to use my wedding china and were quite careful with it.

For favors, Bekah used my extra elastic and silk flowers and made headbands for each of the dolls.

After the tea, we made doll hangers out of craft sticks.  When they dried, we painted them and tried to keep them cute.  Ahem.  Well, I was going to show you pictures, but sadly, they aren’t uploading.  You get the idea, I’m sure.  Th important part is that my girl loved every minute of it.  Job well done, I say.  ;)
